Love cons, but hate things like spending money, or… you know… going somewhere? Well have I got news for you!
Today is the first day of Dot Con, the first geeky pop-culture convention that is held entirely online. Using the magic of streaming services — like Justin.TV and UStream — and Twitter, Dot Con seeks to bring the con experience right into your own home! It’s an intriguing idea, and to be honest, I’m surprised something like this hasn’t been done more often.
The panels and events feature companies like ThinkGeek, bands like The Doubleclicks, and a plethora of nerdy Hollywood types from both in front of, and behind, the camera. There will be ice cream making (along with a flavor-naming contest), as well as a movie night where convention participants will watch a movie together and join in on a live tweet over Dot Com’s Twitter feed.
Contests, interviews, movies, beer…it’s like the best party ever improved only by the fact that you don’t have to kick anyone out of your apartment afterwards! So, from 1PM PST/4PM EST TODAY through February 26, plug into Dot Con and get your geek on!
Teresa Jusino is just lazy enough to really enjoy Dot Con. Get Twitterpated with Teresa, “like” her on Facebook, or visit her at The Teresa Jusino Experience.
